Designed for monitoring grounds and buildings with hazardous areas, R. STAHL’s EC-740-PTZ-EX is a very robust pan/tilt camera with an 18x zoom capability that operates smoothly even in inclement weather with rain or snowfall. This camera model’s scratch-proof protective glass features a specially developed fully mechanical wiper arm which needs no dedicated electric motor, but is activated solely by the movement of the camera.

The optional stainless steel water tank has a volume of 5 or 10 litres and can be installed up to 15m away from the camera it supplies. Both the cameras and the tanks can be placed in zone 1 or zone 2. With mechanical protection according to IP69K and resistance to ambient temperatures ranging from -40 to 75°C, this camera type can withstand extreme climatic conditions.

The camera is available with stainless steel or aluminium enclosures. Both ensure explosion protection by means of SNF technology. SNF, i.e. filling the enclosures with pressurised nitrogen (N2) as protective gas, makes them much easier to handle than conventional models in massive flameproof enclosures (Ex d). Moreover, they are completely waterproof. Each camera features a connection board that monitors the pressure of the nitrogen via an intrinsically safe circuit.

Thanks to the open platform, the cameras are very versatile. They also enable users to save costs and time during installation and operation. In addition to cold climates, the EC-740 series has already proven itself in desert applications: R. STAHL has recently equipped a Saudi Arabian gas production plant with 113 EC-740-PTZ-EX cameras, making this one of the largest reference projects for explosion-proof camera systems.
