The NVMV series of Ex pendant light fittings for HID lamps has been launched by Cooper Crouse-Hinds. They are robust but compact and lightweight, making them suitable for use in hazardous gas (Zone 2) and hazardous dust (Zone 21 and 22) environments. The light fittings are explosion protected light fittings in IEC metallic design, which are suitable for use in harsh or hazardous industrial environments, particularly where there are high levels of moisture or dust, or where there is a risk of mechanical hazards or impact. The luminaires are designed and approved in accordance with IEC/EN 60079, which covers the latest requirements for Ex apparatus. The series is available in two sizes: a small enclosure version with power outputs ranging from 70 up to 250W. A large enclosure version is also available with power outputs from 250 up to 400W. All versions can be used for HPS lamps and MH lamps. The NVMV pendant light fittings can be installed as wall, ceiling or pole-mounted units, at low or medium heights. Due to their high degree of protection (IP66) and the large permissible ambient temperature range (-45 to 55°C), the series can be used in almost any harsh industrial environment. Target applications for the new light fittings include chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food processing, grain, bakeries, oil refineries, waste water treatment plants, metal (steel and aluminium) processing plants, coal plants, wood processing, marine and offshore platforms. The light fittings are also suitable for illuminating process or storage areas, as well as corridors and transport routes. Chemical and UV resistant materials are used in the design of the light fittings. The relatively low weight of the light fittings also means easier mounting and handling. Replacement is also made easier, resulting in reduced maintenance life costs. A variety of optional external globes and reflectors (symmetrical and asymmetrical) are available, which means customers can select the appropriate light distribution for their application. Safety guards are also available.
