Turkish pipelines have increasingly become targets for sabotage and as a result advanced security is required to protect this critical infrastructure. As part of these efforts, Turkey's defence procurement office, the Undersecretariat for Defence Industries, has opened a bidding process for private security companies to provide advance security for all of the country's oil and natural gas pipelines. Securing pipelines from threats such as sabotage, attack and theft is a major challenge for the country, particularly in the eastern and south-eastern regions.

The Pipeline Security Forum 2015 will be a high profile platform where representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and the Undersecretariat for Defence Industry of Turkey will meet and discuss the most pressing security challenges in the pipeline sector.

The Forum, taking place on 25th-26th March 2015 in Istanbul, will also cover other major challenges for the energy pipeline industry such as insecurity and terrorism, political tensions, counter-terrorism, challenges for transnational pipeline networks, employee protection, oil siphoning, community engagement, special incident investigation methods or the effective implementation of latest cutting-edge security technologies. Speakers include senior representatives from: Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, Turkish Undersecretariat for Defence Industries, TANAP, GE Oil & Gas, West African Gas Pipeline Company, ConocoPhillips, Petrochina, ABB, Joint Venture In Salah Gas , Pico International Petroleum, NEPAL Oil & Gas, GAIL, BP and Sonatrach, amongst others. This Forum is supported by the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE). More information can be found on the website www.pipelinesecurityforum.com
