SPX's Glasgow facility has been shortlisted as a finalist in the 'Manufacturer of the Year' category for 2015 Annual Pump Industry Awards.

The Annual Pump Industry Awards, now in its twelfth year, is one of the most anticipated events of the year recognizing top achievers throughout the industry. A record number of nominations were submitted this year, demonstrating the scope of success and innovation in 2014.

In addition, three SPX engineers based in Glasgow, Emma Lambert, Stewart Skinner and Affan Waseem, have been shortlisted for 'The Engineer of the Year' category.

SPX, which produces its ClydeUnion Pumps, has a long heritage in the supply of reliable pumping solutions. The manufacturing facility in Glasgow has been one of the largest employers in the region and provides brilliantly engineered pumping packages.

Pumps have been manufactured at the SPX Glasgow site in Cathcart since the 1800s. The plant has advanced engineering capability and applies the latest technologies to ensure it offers the reliability and quality required by the industries it serves, including water and industrial, naval, oil and gas, and both nuclear and conventional power generation. Alongside a continual program of research and development ensuring it maintains its position as a leading pump supplier, the facility also has an acclaimed apprenticeship and graduate training scheme that develops new engineering talent in the local area. This pool of talent is part of a strategy of proactive knowledge management to ensure the site's long legacy of knowledge and expertise is passed to the next generation and the business remains a market leader into the future.

Gary Walker, Head of Engineering of the Glasgow facility said: "We are delighted to be shortlisted for this prestigious award. Our facility in Glasgow houses some of the leading design and manufacturing technology and techniques in the United Kingdom, supported by leading pump experience and expertise. Choosing SPX's ClydeUnion Pumps is not just about high performance and reliable pumping technology; it is about choosing a partner who has highly experienced engineers to ensure all application requirements are met."

Votes can be cast via the Pump Industry Awards website until Friday 20 February.

The winners will be announced at the 12th Pump Industry Awards gala dinner at the Chesford Grange Hotel on 19 March 2015.
