Connecting the installed base of instrumentation to the industrial internet of things comes with the expectation of integrating Ethernet-based basic process control while at the same time gaining access to complete diagnostic data. The new PROFINET Gateways for the LB and FB Remote I/O systems by Pepperl+Fuchs fulfill this expectation with ease. They support communication via HART on the instrument lines, integrating any data from the instrument with seamless integration of process data into any engineering or plant asset management system. Complete access to all device data enables software-supported, proactive maintenance procedures and thus helps to reduce costs, effort and risk.
Ring redundancy
The new gateways feature S2 system redundancy for plants requiring high availability, connecting the Remote I/O station to redundant controllers. This means that process control remains in operation even in the rare event of a controller failure or stop. In addition users can deploy gateways in ring redundancy. This provides protection from unwanted disconnects or faults in the installation. LB and FB Remote I/Os provide a path to IIoT readiness and can be installed in any hazardous area, anywhere.
