DURIT has every reason to celebrate: At its site in Portugal the company has won the first prize as an exporting company in the category Industrial Production. The prize is awarded by the bank BES and the Portuguese economy Negὀcios magazine in collaboration with the consulting firm McKinsey & Company.

António Melo Pires of VW Autoeuropa presented the award during a ceremony in mid-November to DURIT’s general managers Michael Mense, Dr. Flausino da Silva and Manuel Valente.

"We are very pleased that DURIT Metalurgia has received this prestigious award in Portugal. This is a wonderful recognition of the performance of our Portuguese colleagues. For us, the award is an incentive to continue to convince our customers with quality and innovation” says Michael Mense.

The internationally expanding company celebrated in 2012 its 30th anniversary. Founded in 1982, today the company has 440 employees at locations in Wuppertal, in Albergaria-a-Velha, Portugal and Salvador in Brazil.

The focus is on the production of individual components and precision carbide tools for various applications and industries that are precisely tailored to the needs of customers. The production covers the powder over the blank to the finished product from a single source.
