With the intrinsically safe Smart-Ex® 03, Pepperl+Fuchs presented a 5G and Wi-Fi 6 ready smartphone at Hannover Messe 2023. In the 6-inch Android smartphone, Pepperl+Fuchs combines its global, customer-oriented support with the know-how of its subsidiaries ECOM Instruments as a pioneer in intrinsically safe mobile devices and Aava Mobile as an expert in industrial tablets and wireless technology. The new smartphone is developed entirely in-house in Europe and manufactured outside of China to ensure 100 per-cent control of hardware and software security, as well as higher availability thanks to resilient supply chains.
For public and private networks
With 5G, Wi-Fi 6 and eSIM, the Smart-Ex® 03 sets new standards for flexible deployment in public and private networks of mobile service providers or the companies themselves. This provides users at company locations around the globe with state-of-the-art communication and collaboration functions by means of fast and secure transmission of large amounts of data – for example, remote support, video conferencing, digital radio communication with minimum latency by push-to-talk (PTT) or the combination with the Visor-Ex® smart glasses as part of the comprehensive peripherals portfolio.
Optimized for diverse fields of application such as communication, digital workflows and work order management, operational safety, scanning, asset management, predictive maintenance, augmented reality applications or IoT integration, the smartphone offers the right answer for every use case.
Self-monitoring of device health
The camera, which is tailored to the requirements of the industry for scanning, documenting or video conferencing, delivers precise and optimal results even in harsh environments or in sunlight. With the Smart-Ex® 03, mobile workers, for example in the oil and gas industry, in chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical or energy companies, as well as in mining, receive a future-proof smartphone, which follows the enterprise mobility concept from Pepperl+Fuchs, creates efficiency and reduces the cost of digitization. The successor to the Smart-Ex® 02 features an enhanced safety architecture for even greater safety in potentially explosive atmospheres. The innovative device health monitoring of the Smart-Ex® 03 convinces with hardware and software self-monitoring, among other things. Sophisticated diagnostic tools, detailed log files and remote control by the company IT enable permanent device monitoring and fast problem solving.
